With the students gone for spring break, the traffic was light today, so I capitalized on the empty roads by filling up my tank and driving out to the prairie.
I had a shot in mind, but I forgot to bring my tripod. I tried improvising my putting my camera on a fence post and using the timer, but, um, it wasn’t quite the same.
I finally settled on doing a shot with just my hand on the fence rail. It wasn’t what I wanted, and I kept losing my balance while I took the shot, but I can live with it. At least I didn’t have to crop it at all, not even to straighten the horizon!
Either way, it was a beautiful day, and with Jump, Little Children’s “Licorice Tea Demos” playing in the background, how could I not enjoy it?

I cannot exactly envision what you had planned for the shot, but I honestly believe that the shot with your hand is at least as good :)
The colour shot is also beautiful :) But I like ‘em Pylons anyway =)

Hi, I came across your blog when googling ‘dragan method’. I found your tutorial real helpfull, and loved your pics! People are quick to complain about vignetting, but (I guess like you do too) I love it, mostly it’ll give a pic this kind of authenticity/atmosphere.
greetings from Belgium, you got a fan there!
