#366: The End

366

My 365 project is officially over.

I had the intention early on to publish the collection, so I made a photo book. But at 240 pages, it’s rather hefty and expensive, so I put the “Best of” as determined by you guys with just a little editorial discretion on my part in a much more reasonable, 80-page version here, in case anyone is interested.

Thanks for all your support!

Framing

Monday, May 26th, 2008

One of the “rules” I do have a tendency to do is natural framing - i.e., to use a component within the photo to “frame” the subject. I’ve been having a go at that this week, and I really like the results. All of these were taken at the Thomas Center in Gainesville, FL:

Input, Please

If I were to be making a “Best of” photo book of my 365 shots, which ones MUST I include? The link to all of them (thus far, anyway - 355 as of the writing of this) is here.

Lightroom Presets: Fake It Til You Make It

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I was playing around the other day with a few self-portraits and came up with an Adobe Lightroom preset that I really liked. I called it “Fake It Til You Make It.” It seems to work well on photos that are slightly under-exposed to add lots of punch and light. Today, I made a black-and-white version as well.

The presets: Fake It.zip

Here’s what they look like applied to this image:

With “Fake It Til You Make It BW”:

A note on the use: adjusting “Exposure” seems to be the best way to get the highlights and shadows where you want them - adjusting “Brightness” seems to blow out the highlights every time.

Enjoy!
