Great Flickr Utility

I just found this utility in the Flickr App Garden: http://stats.ghusse.com/. It basically examines the EXIF data in all the photos you’ve posted on flickr and breaks all the information down so you can see the number of shots you took at different focal lengths, apertures, ISOs, shutter speeds, programs (aperture-priority, manual, etc), and camera. If you like numbers as much as me, then you’ll hopefully find this to be awesome :)

I basically found out that my investment in “fast glass” seems to be paying off, as a full 47% of all the shots I’ve posted with the EXIF intact are taken between apertures of 1.4 and 2.8. However, I’m not sure that I need 1/8000th shutter speed like I thought; as it is, I only used it on 117 photos, or 4% of my total shots. 100mm is my  most used focal-length, with 30% of my shots being taken there, and I use aperture-priority 70% of the time (with the remaining being mostly manual).

Pretty cool, eh?

I’ve been following your flickr work and how do you find the time to produce such wonderful images? Great stuff. I just learned about your blog. I’ll be reading it shortly. I also have a flickr account ‘raymondpfg’. Keep up the good word.
